Judge Mábio Antônio Macedo ruled on the joint custody of a child and determined that the father’s contact should provisionally take place through daily virtual communication.
The judge emphasized that joint custody — the legally preferred model under Article 1.583, paragraph 1, of the Brazilian Civil Code — serves the best interests of the child and ensures the ongoing involvement of both parents in the child’s life.
Primary Residence and Virtual Contact
The primary residence was established as the mother’s household, as the child currently lives with her abroad.
Due to the geographical distance between the parents, the court ordered that the father’s contact with the child should, for the time being, occur daily in virtual form. Communication must be announced to the mother in advance and must respect the child’s daily routine.
In‑person visits are to be coordinated directly between the parents.
Provisional Child Support
In addition to custody and visitation arrangements, the judge set provisional child support at the amount of one monthly minimum wage, payable by the 10th day of each month.
